CBS: Spend per student lower in Israel compared to OECD

According to data released by the Central Bureau of Statistics, the national education expenditure in Israel is 7.4% of the GDP. In contrast, OECD countries spend 6.5% of their GDP on education institutions. The CBS explained that the figures about Israel are affected by the high percentage of young population, which is higher than the rate in OECD countries.
The data further shows that in 2010, the expenditure per pupil in primary education in Israel was $5,758, which is lower than the average expenditure of $8,973 in OECD countries. (Ynet)
