High Court delays decision on migrant imprisonment legality

The High Court of Justice delayed its ruling on a case of a Sudanese asylum seeker jailed for the last nine months under the new procedure which allows the unlimited imprisonment without trial of migrants based on suspicion alone.

The judges decided the State will reexamine the evidence relating to the plaintiff's imprisonment and will update the court in eight days. In addition, the judges rejected the plaintiff's representatives' request to discuss the new procedure's legality, explaining the issue will be debated during in the course of other petitions already filed with the court.
