British embassy in Yemen to close on Sunday as 'precaution'

The British Foreign Office announced its country's Yemen embassy will be closed on Sunday and Monday as a "precautionary measure." A spokesperson from the office refused to say whether the move is informed by an actual threat, the BBC reported.

The British embassy in Yemen's capital Sanaa has been operating in a reduced capacity recently due to "increasing security alerts." Earlier on Friday, the United States issued a travel alert and announced 12 of its embassies in the Middle East and in North Africa will be close on Sunday. (Ynet)
