An IDF soldier on leave discovered he had won the first prize of NIS 26 million in the lottery Saturday. He also won the second prize of NIS 1 million and other prizes totaling NIS 72,000.
The soldier, a resident of the south, had won a raffle that took place a week ago having paid NIS 290 for a ticket in Ashkelon .
He collected his prize together with his father on Sunday, taking home a check for NIS 27,072,404.
He said he bought the ticket on his way to the base using his army paycheck. "I had a good feeling and decided to try my luck," he said.
"I have two feet firmly on the ground. I'll put the money into a savings account and take an interest every month. The interest will pay for my higher education, a rented apartment and a nice life. I also intend to help my parents and three brothers."
