Iran's Rohani: West has taken Iranian people hostage

Iranian President Hassan Rohani took the floor in Tehran's parliament and addressed the sanctions imposed on the country. According to him, western countries "have taken the Iranian people hostage" in order to pressure Iran regarding its nuclear program.
"We all know that our country is at a difficult economic and social state, and the international pressure has added to our problems," said Rohani. He stressed that the government will attempt to overcome international challenges through diplomatic channels, while maintaining Iran's independence. (News agencies)
