A seinor IDF official said that the army’s initial investigation into the collapse of a soldier from the Reconnaissance Battalion of the Nahal Brigade during a run Sunday on base showed that training did not take place under an unusual heat load. This would have required commanders to cancel physical workouts outdoors.
The soldier, 20, who immigrated to Israel a year ago, collapsed during the workout. He is in serious condition, sedated and on a respirator at Chaim Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer, where he was transferred from Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera. (Yoav Zitun)
