Health Ministry: Polio virus discovered in Ofakim

The polio virus was discovered in the city of Ofakim in south Israel, the Health Ministry announced. Ofakim has so far been outside the region of intended vaccinations that is taking place in the south.
On Tuesday it was reported that the virus was located near Hadera, in a sewage purification plant in Baqa al-Gharbiyye. This is the furthest north point in Israel where the virus has been found following the rare outbreak. (Yaron Kelner)
