The United Nations renewed UNIFIL's mandate in south Lebanon on Thursday as it has done every six months since the establishment of the force in 1978.
Israel's Ambassador to the UN Ron Prosor said that the move shows the importance the UN attaches to maintaining stability in the region. He nevertheless noted that despite UNIFIL's presence, Hezbollah has continued to break every law – from hurting Israeli civilians to total disregard to international law.
