Obama: We cannot turn a blind eye to Syria

"We cannot and will not turn a blind eye to what happened in Damascus," Obama said in statement at the White House on Saturday. While he said he didn't plan to put US troops on the ground, he stated that if the US didn't enforce accountability, its resolve to stand up to others who flout international rules, would be questioned.

The president reiterated his confidence in the case the US has made for carrying out military action, without waiting for results from the UN team which had investigated chemical weapons use in Syria. (Reuters)
