Report: Russia offered Assad way out of Syria

A Saudi newspaper quoted US intelligence sources as saying that Russia has offered Syrian President Bashar Assad to step down and escape the country on one of its ships in the Mediterranean.
According to the report, Russia made the decision after realizing that the US was serious about a military strike and that Assad was not likely to stay in power. (Roi Kais)
