Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz
visited an Israeli Navy base in Haifa Monday to address recent developments in the region and wish soldiers happy holidays in light of the upcoming celebration of Rosh Hashana.
"My impression as the army's chief," Gantz said, "is that we have great commanders and excellent systems that are capable of handling any challenge. The people of Israel
have someone to count on if and when the situation calls for it."
Gantz added: "Over the last two years we have been witnessing great regional instability. In the face of that instability… we are required to achieve high levels of preparedness.

"Over the past two weeks, the deadly and tragic events in Syria
have exemplified how necessary it is for the IDF to be prepared.
chief noted: "I would like to use this opportunity to wish the citizens of Israel a happy new year and that the holidays will be safe and calm. We will ensure that. Citizens can and should exhibit public strength."
