The United Nations Security Council remains divided and stalled on the crisis in Syria, its Australian president, Gary Quinlan, conceded during a press conference earlier on Wednesday, and diplomatic efforts are now focusing on the G20 meeting about to begin in Russia.
He said believed the non-permanent members, including Australia, had made it clear they wanted to see the stalemate broken. "The reality is with that stalemate however there needs to be a re-energized diplomatic effort and the gear has shifted," he said. (Ynet)
