Former President Moshe Katsav, who was sentenced to seven years for sex offences, is on his first leave from the Maasiyahu Prison. The leave will last 24 hours in which Katsav will be under house arrest, other than going to synagogue to pray.
WIZO chairperson Gila Oshrat said, "There's no room to give leaves to a prisoner who has never expressed regret or took responsibility for his actions. This is a difficult message the State is giving the victims and society in general." (Raanan Ben-Zur)
