Public Defender: Arrests jumped 35% in last decade

A report published by the Public Defender's Office showed that the number of arrests in Israel jumped by 35% over the past decade, although many cases are closed without indictment.

The report also revealed that most of the detainees were interrogated before they met a lawyer. Likewise, due to court delays and excessive police requests, detention periods have become longer. (Aviel Magnezi)
