Report: Iran helped persuade Syria to disarm

Lebanese paper As-Safir reported that while Russia and Syria agreed that handing over chemical weapons was preferable to an American attack, Iran is the country that helped persuade the Syria regime it would not lose deterrence ability if it disarmed.
Concurrently, a source related to the Russian defense ministry told As-Safir that Russian President Vladimir Putin vouched for the Damascus regime personally and officially to enable the disarming agreement. (Roi Kais)
