Interior Ministry: Expect wave of immigration after law struck down

Amnon Ben Ami, director of the Population, Immigration and Borders Authority, said that the state is afraid that the ruling of the High Court on Monday regarding the Prevention of Infiltration Law would lead to a new wave of immigration.
“We succeeded in decreasing the number of infiltrators and we are worried that there will be a renewal of the phenomenon of the arrival of new infiltrators,” Ben Ami said at the meeting of the Interior Committee of the Knesset, which discussed the cancelation of the law’s amendment which allowed detention of infiltrators for up to three years.
