KKL-JNF offers celebration of events, hikes on Israel National Trail during holiday's intermediate days

Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael (KKL-JNF) is offering a celebration of events and hikes on the Israel National Trail for the entire family during the intermediate days of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, which starts Wednesday.

Menachem Begin's 100th birthday

Assorted hikes, events in Begin Park in Judean Hills

 

When: Friday, September 20, from 8 am to 2 pm

 

In honor of the 100th birthday of former Prime Minister Menachem Begin, KKL-JNF and the Menachem Begin Heritage Center invite you to a day of excursions and events in the park named after Aliza and Menachem Begin in the Judean Hills.

 

There will be morning outings on foot, on bicycles and in ATVs, on a segment of the Israel National Trail and other forest trails.

 

Hikes will include the fascinating life story of Menachem Begin in special interactive ways and, following the hikes, there will be an inspiring event to commemorate him, including a discussion with author Galila Ron-Feder-Amit, who wrote a book about Begin, and who will speak about how much he influenced her life, as well as greetings, memorial speeches, performances and songs.

Hiking in British Park

Festival of family activities with KKL-JNF on Israel National Trail

 

When: Saturday, September 21, from 7 am to 5 pm

 

Celebrate decades of green activities with KKL-JNF on the Israel National Trail with hikes on a variety of routes—for experienced hikers (from the Hanut ruins to Tel Azeka and the Kifa ruins), for amateur hikers (from Tel Goded to the Tzura ruins, Mitzpe Masua and Tel Shiklon) and for families with small children (an easy 4 km hike from Tel Azeka).

 

There will be family activities in the forest afterwards for all the hikers, concluding with a performance for all ages.

Dreaming of sun

Parvarim, Sadot Shebaemek Band in Kibbutz Neve Eitan

 

When: Saturday night, September 21, at 9:30 pm

 

During the intermediate days of Sukkot this year, as in former years, there will be a Springs Festival with a variety of special events, performances, excursions and tours of the many historic sites in the valley with an accent on the story of the water towers. The Parvarim duo will be hosting the Sadot Shebaemek band for a special gala performance featuring songs from all eras in honor of 50 years of performing and music.

 

Musical direction: Haim Asner.

 

The event will take place next to the water tower in Kibbutz Neve Eitan.

Ushpizin in forest

Family excursions in KKL-JNF's forests

 

When: Sunday-Tuesday, September 22-24, at 9 am and 1 pm

 

This year, in honor of Sukkot, KKL-JNF invites you to free guided tours on scenic roads, in parks and on forest trails. Each day will feature different KKL-JNF forests or parks. Tours are for families with cars. Duration: Three hours.

 

  • Sunday: An outing from Tel Yizre'el to Ein Yizre'el; and an outing from Beer Sheva River Park to Mitzpe Beit Eshel.
  • Monday: An outing on the ridge trail in Aminadav Forest; and an outing to the Karua ruins in Malachim Shahariya Forest.
  • Tuesday: An outing on the Shimshit trail in Zippori Forest; and an outing in the Valley of the Springs in Ayalon Canada Park.

Springs Valley Trail

Walk on Springs Trail to water towers

 

When: Sunday, September 22, 4 pm

 

The Maayanot (Springs) Festival is featuring a family walk on two beautiful routes, 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) and 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) long, passing springs and water towers.

 

Starting point is at the water tower in Kibbutz Reshafim, and in the forest grove next to the water tower there will be challenging activities for all ages.

 

There will also be a circus show at 6:30 pm and an evening running event on the Springs Valley Trail at 7:30 pm.

 

Entrance fee: NIS 20 (about $5.5) per participant.

Olive harvest

Family adventure in olive grove in Ben Shemen Forest (Tel Hadid); family adventure in KKL-JNF Forest, Archeology Center in Kabri

This year, as usual, you are invited to KKL-JNF's olive groves, where there will be new activities for all ages in addition to olive harvesting. Containers will be available (for a nominal fee of NIS 10) and we guarantee at least two hours of family fun for all ages.

When: Monday, September 23, from 7 am to 5 pm

Excursion for hikers of all abilities in British Park in Judean lowland

 

When: Monday, September 23, at 4 pm

 

We will hike from Mitzpe Masua to the Tzura ruins and hear about visits and visitors and meetings between different worlds. We will talk about the Judean lowland and its landscapes, flora and human history.

 

Suitable for amateur hikers. Duration: Three hours. Number of participants is limited.

Together on road to Jerusalem

Ultimate trek for all people of Israel

 

When: Monday-Tuesday, September 23-24

 

The Mitchabrim Bonim Atid Beyachad network, the Nahal Sorek Regional Council and the Regional Council Center are leading a national renewal of the traditional trek and pilgrimage to Jerusalem on the festival of Sukkot. The trek will span two days and includes camping on Mount Eitan.

Sataf Village Trail

Family fun with KKL-JNF on Israel National Trail

 

When: Tuesday, September 24, at 10 am

 

KKL-JNF National Service volunteers will be leading a hike on the Israel National Trail along a segment that goes through Sataf, including activities for the entire family that were especially prepared for this event.

 

Hike the agricultural village trails and hear about how the inhabitants used to make a living by cultivating the agricultural terraces, about the history of the village and about the connection between man and nature, in the beautiful landscapes of Sataf.

Party in Givat Ada

Village, forest celebrate 110 years

 

When: Wednesday, September 25, from 9 am to 1 pm

 

The celebration of 110 years since the establishment of the community of Givat Ada will include

an interesting treasure hunt with stories about the history of the village and about special trees planted in the vicinity led by KKL-JNF National Service volunteers and longtime residents of the village.

 

Each family will get a card with clues and hints, and there will be photos of the village sites that are the goal of the treasure hunt. Suitable for all ages.
