Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem said that Damascus is pleased with the Security Council resolution calling for the eradication of Syria's chemical weapons. In an interview with Lebanon's as-Safir newspaper he said, "We are serious about living up to our commitments regardless of the accounts of others who work against Syria."

Meanwhile, Lebanese President Michel Suleiman denied that chemical weapons had reached his country from Syria. "Hezbollah is against the use and storage of this weapon," he told the Al-Hayat newspaper. (Roi Kais)
