Egypt reopens Rafah crossing into Gaza

Egypt on Saturday reopened the Rafah crossing point, the only access to Gaza that is not controlled by Israel, after nine days of closure, Hamas announced. Some 300 Palestinians are meant to get to Egypt from Gaza during the day, said Maher Abu Sabha, the Head of the Gaza Border Agency.
Since the ousting of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi on July 3, radical Islamists in the Sinai Peninsula have stepped up attacks against security forces, prompting the Egyptian authorities to repeatedly closed the crossing point Rafah. (AFP)
