The cabinet approved the proposal submitted by Environmental Protection Minister Amir Peretz and the PMO to establish an ammonia plant in southern Israel. The Environmental Protection Ministry said that the proposal states that the new plant would be the alternative to the current onein Haifa, and would also reduce gas transport within Israel.
Minister Peretz said "there is no doubt this is one the most complicated decisions to execute, but I see this as an action that would terminate the possible life risk and massive damage that is entailed in the (Haifa) potentially being harmed." (Ynet)
