Report: Fearing damage, Syria transferred fighter jets to Iran

The German newspaper Der Spiegel reported that according to German intelligence services, Iran allowed the Syrian regime to place its fighter jets in its territory. The report stated that Iran and Syria signed an agreement in November 2012 that allows Syrian President Bashar Assad "to place a large part of his Air Force on Iranian soil and use it when necessary."
It was further reported that the Islamic Republic sent Syria elite forces of the Revolutionary Guards in order to aid the regime in Damascus in its war against the rebels. (Ynet)
