Energy and Water Minister Silvan Shalom said that he mourns the death of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef. "He was one of the greatest and most important men of Torah, rabbinic leaders and arbiters of Halacha that Am Yisrael ever had. In meeting with him, I personally learned about his great wisdom and rare knowledge of Torah," said Shalom.
Shalom added: "Am Yisrael mourns the loss of a great rabbi who is known for his innovative and revolutionary rulings. May he rest in peace." (Moran Azulay)
