Peres to Ynet: Yosef was rabbi of his generation

Israeli President Shimon Peres told Ynet in a telephone interview that Rabbi Ovadia Yosef was a leader of his time, "He was the rabbi of the Jewish people for his generation. He was accepted and respected who disagreed with him, and certainly among those who admired him."

Peres added, "In spite of his greatness, he was a man of the people, honest, the conversations between us were informal, open, full of exoerience and of wisdom." (Ynet)
