IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz addressed the death of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef at a conference held at Bar Ilan University, and said: "The rabbi's act of releasing the Yom Kippur agunot ("chained women" who are bound in marriage by a husband who refuses to grant a divorce, is missing or not proved dead) was grand. The IDF cherishes and appreciates the decision and has much appreciation for his many years of making." (Yoav Zitun)
