he Pentagon announced Thursday its number two official, Ashton Carter, will quit his job in December.
Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel said in a statement that he "reluctantly accepted" Carter's decision to step down on Dec. 4 as deputy secretary of defense after more than four and a half years of service to the Pentagon. (Reuters)
