A truck plunged off a cliff in southeastern Peru, killing at least 49 people, the AFP reported Saturday. "We are in mourning, so far we have 49 dead," Fedia Castro, the local mayor, was quoted as saying on local television.
The victims included 12 children in the accident in the southeastern Peru province of La Convencion, he added. Due to a shortage of buses, people often travel by truck in the province. (AFP)
