Report: Security alert in Egypt's Suez for fear of terrorist attacks

The London-based newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reported that the Egyptian authorities have increased security on the Suez Canal during the weekend, following information about jihadist intentions to carry out an attack in the area.
The Egyptians deployed military and police forces in the canal and are making use of military helicopters in the area. Security sources said that these measures were taken after statements made by al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, calling to harm the Egyptian army. (Roi Kais)
