Amir Peretz demands PM get involved in Bazan, Teva layoffs

Environmental Protection Minister Amir Peretz sent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu requesting he intercede in the planned layoff of hundreds of workers from Bazan oil refiners and Teva.

According to the Peretz, the government must "examine the ways it can stop the massive dismissals and make sure the phenomenon doesn’t spread." Peretz noted that decision was taken by the companies' management, but the government still has a responsibility for creating stability in the Israeli workforce. (Moran Azulay)
