Haiti gov't questions report on child slavery

None

The Haitian government is questioning the findings of a recent report on "modern slavery" in the impoverished Caribbean nation. Haitian officials say the study exaggerates the prevalence of child labor in Haiti. They also say the report does a disservice to efforts to tackle child labor.

Haiti was ranked second among 162 countries on the Global Slavery Index by the Walk Free Foundation. The study estimated the number of people in each nation who are affected by forced and bonded labor, human trafficking, forced marriages, and the use of children in the military. (AP)
