AG: New directives for jailing migrants passed onto police
The deputy attorney general, Attorney Raz Nazri has given the police, the immigration authorities and the IPS new instructions penned by Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein regarding how illegal immigrants, either suspected – or convicted – of crimes may continually held in special detention centers.
The new directives come after previous ones which allowed migrants to be jailed for up to three years without trial were ruled unconstitutional by the High Court. (Omri Efraim, Aviel Magnezi)
