Law approved allowing non-local marriage registration

The Knesset approved in second and third reading what has been dubbed the "Tzahar Law", according to which individuals can choose to register for marriage in any city, regardless of their place of residence.

The law, which was approved following a difficult debate and finger pointing between Yahadut Hatorah to Habayit Hayehudi, cancels the regional registration common until now that limited partners wishing to wed to register in the local rabbinate at their location of residence, allowing them to register at any location they wish.
