US opposes building in east Jerusalem

US State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki said in response to Israel's announcement of building 1,500 units in east Jerusalem that the decision is not a move that creates a good atmosphere for negotiations and that the US opposes it.

Psaki added that it's important both sides stick to talks to resolve the conflict and that releasing prisoners is a difficult but necessary step to guarantee an agreement. (Yitzhak Benhorin, Washington)
