The protesters blocked the main road in Kafr Qara and waved black flags with Kabha's photo. "The murderer killed Kabha's fans," the protesters called, while demanding the police to invest more resources in the investigation. Kabha, 53, was shot to death by two assailants on motorcycles when he was on his way to his home in Kafr Qara from performing at a wedding.

Dalal Abu Amneh, 30, one of the best known singers in the Arab sector, took part in the protest and sent her condolences to the Kabha family "and to the entire (Arab) sector, for the loss of a beloved singer. I did not know him personally, but I grew up on his lyrics and beautiful Palestinian songs. I hope this is the last case of such kind."
A local educator in Kafr Qara, Mahe Zakhalka Masalkhe, said that Kabha helped to preserve "our Palestinian heritage." According to her, "we all cry and mourn the great void that was created, the cold-blooded murder. Shafik had no enemies; his only role was to make people happy."
Masalkhe points her finger at the police, "who isn't doing enough to collect illegal weapons. The police must get to the killer, who did not only murder Shafik but many of his admirers as well."
The police said in response that the murder case was transferred to the Northern District Police Central Unit for investigation.
