Philippine Red Cross: 1,200 killed in typhoon
The Philippine Red Cross said that according to local reports the Haiyan typhoon killed at least 1,000 people in the coastal city of Tacloban.
The group added that 200 more were killed in the Samar district. Earlier it was reported that hundreds of thousands were forced to evacuate their homes, and that electricity and communication lines have crashed in several districts. (Reuters)
