Cabinet okays eviction of Bedouin village in favor of new Negev town

The government has given the greenlight for the construction of two new settlements in the Negev – the city of Kasif, intended for the haredi sector, and the town of Hiran, intended for the Zionist religious community. Hiran will be erected over the Bedouin village of Umm al-Hiran, whose residents will be evicted to the Bedouin village of Hura.

Earlier pro-Bedouin demonstrators gathered outside the cabinet meeting in Sdeh Boker, and protested the eviction. Two were held for questioning. (Ilana Curiel)
