Crime boss Dumrani arrested, remanded for 8 days

None

Police arrested southern crime boss Shalom Dumrani on Saturday for his alleged role in election rigging during the local elections held in Israel at the end of October.

A Rishon Lezion court extended Dumrani's remand by eight additional days – despite the police's request for 15 days. Explaining his ruling, the judge said "it is reasonable to believe that his release will endanger public safety. I believe his arrest is not just an attempt to calm public concerns. (Eli Senyor)
