Syria Kurds announce transitional autonomous government

Syrian Kurds in the northeast have formed a transitional autonomous government, they said in a statement Tuesday, after making key territorial gains against jihadists in recent weeks.
The latest declaration comes amid a general strengthening of Kurdish rights in neighboring Turkey, and increasing moves towards independence by Iraq's autonomous Kurdish region. (AFP)
