Ban pays tribute to the victims of Auschwitz-Birkenau

The Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, paid tribute Monday to the victims of the Holocaust on the site of the former Nazi death camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau, AFP reported.
Ban went walking through the gate bearing the infamous inscription "Arbeit Macht Frei" (Work Liberates You) at the entrance of the camp, installed by Nazi Germany in southern Poland during World War II, where approximately 1.1 million Jews died. (AFP).
