During a speech to the Knesset, French President Francois Hollande said: "My presence here allows me to bless and salute your country. Despite the pursuits and the pogroms, Israel proved that it is the creation of unstoppable will."
He added: "You turned your tragedy into a crane to build your country. You were forced to fight so much to protect your country. Israel exists and continues to exist only because of your efforts." (Moran Azulay)
