WIZO: 200,000 battered women, 600,000 kids witness abuse

Some 200,000 battered women live in Israel today, and about 600,000 children witness violence, according to a WIZO report that will be presented on Wednesday at the Knesset. The report further shows that in the past decade, 186 women were murdered by a relative.
The report notes that only one fifth of battered women file complaints, and that most cases close due to lack of evidence. (Omri Efraim)
