Knesset approves public housing sales bill in 1st reading

The Knesset passed the first reading of a bill proposal that will renew apartment sales for eligible citizens living in public housing. The money collected from the sales will be put into a special fund for public housing, and it will also be used to renovate the apartments and help in rent payments.

If the bill will pass the second and third reading, the law will go into effect retroactively, starting August 1, 2013, and will be valid for five years, or until 15,000 apartments are sold. (Zvi Lavi)
