Prosecutor seeks harsher sentence for 'sadistic cult' leader

The State Prosecutor's Office filed an appeal with the Supreme Court about the verdict in the Jerusalem sadistic cult case, in the course of which the head of the cult and his assistant received 26 years and six years in prison, respectively. The state had asked for 65 years for the former.

In the appeal the prosecution claimed that the head of the cult was convicted of violent and sexual offence of a cruel and extreme nature, committed on many victims, including minors. According to the prosecution, the punishment does not fit the severity of the crime. (Aviel Magnezi)
