German court convicts Syrian of spying

A German court has convicted a man of spying on opposition Syrian activists in Germany and given him a one-year suspended prison sentence.

The court in Berlin says the 60-year-old Syrian man, identified only as Mohamad K., collected information on opposition activists from September 2011 to February 2012. He passed the information to another Syrian, who was sentenced to three years and three months in prison for spying last year. (AP)
