The Israeli Employment Service released on Sunday employment statistics according to which 14,420 Israelis
have become unemployed in October.
According to data, the number of people who lost their jobs in October is the highest number since July, marking a 28% rise compared to September and 24.7% compared to October 2012.

Excluding a mild decrease during the High Holidays, the number of people who lost their jobs has been on the rise since March, when 10,000 people have become unemployed.
Some 4,700 of the people who lost their jobs in October are from Israel's centeral region and 2,055 from Jerusalem. In both regions the numbers signify a hike – 24.3% and 39.4% increase from October 2012, respectively.
Hikes have also been documented in the south, the north and the Sharon region.
According to the data, over a third of the newly unemployed are between the ages of 25 and 34, 69% do not have an academic degree; 17.5% were employed as salespeople, and 17.6% as clerks and cashiers.
The data pertain to those who lost their jobs in October, as according to the Central Bureau of Statistics, total unemployment rates have decreased.
