Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with newly elected Labor Party Chairman Issac Herzog in Ramallah.
Abbas updated Herzog in the current state of peace talks and stressed the Palestinians' commitment to negotiations in its current time frame with the goal of forming a Palestinian state along the 1967 border lines. Herzog for his part promised to offer the Israeli government a political safety for achieving peace – a hint he would join the coalition should hawkish members leave in case of an agreement.
