The Attorney-General of the Northern District has indicted Rafaat Halabi, a 28-year-old resident of the northern Majdal Shams village, for being in contact with a foreign agent, giving information to the enemy, leaving the country illegally and other misdemeanors.
The indictment states that Halabi crossed the Syrian border in September and made contact with Syrians, who recruited him to spy against Israel. The Shin Bet handled the investigation after the North Branch of the Central Intelligence Unit arrested him a month ago. Halabi's friend, Mohammed Romaiya, 24, was also indicted for assisting Halabi to cross the border into Syria. (Ahiya Raved)
