Former SA ambassador: PM would have been unwanted guest

None

Former Israeli ambassador to South Africa, Alon Liel, said that it was right that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu didn't attend Nelson Mandela's memorial service. "It's a shame that (President Shimon) Peres didn't make it. Netanyahu is an unwanted guest in the South Africa of today, but Peres is different."

Liel told Ynet that the management of Netanyahu's office is terrifying. "To give a financial reason for not attending is insulting. Netanyahu doesn't have to show up as long as the Palestinian issue isn’t solved." (Ynet)
