Syria: Chemical weapons destruction expected to start in January

The director of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, Ahmet Uzumcu, said Tuesday that he hopes the operations to destroy Syria's chemical arsenal will begin by the end of January.

"We hope that by the end of January, the destruction will begin on the American ship," he said referring to the vessel specifically converted for this purpose. (AFP)
