India recognizes colonial law forbidding homosexuality

None

The Indian Supreme Court confirmed Wednesday the validity of a law calling homosexuality a crime, inherited from the British colonial legislation.

The court overturned a ruling made by a court in New Delhi in 2009 that decriminalized relations between consenting adults of the same sex, saying it was up to parliament to legislate on the subject. (AFP)
