Baby moderately injured in ceiling crash

Weather causes ceiling to collapse in caravan shul in Modi'in Illit in central Israel, wounding baby, five more people

A 3-month-old baby was moderately injured on Thursday night after the ceiling of a caravan shul collapsed in the city of Modi'in Illit in central Israel. The baby sustained a head injury.

 

Magen David Adom energency services reported that five more people, among them four women, sustained light injuries and are suffering from wounds.

Dangerous Weather

The extreme weather took its toll on Thursday as well. A 50-year-old man was killed in a traffic accident between two vehicles in Dir Hana junction in Western Galilee.

 

An MDA team that arrived at the scene determined the man's death after prolonged resuscitation attempts. Another person sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Western Galilee hospital in Nahariya in northern Israel. 

 

In Lod, southeast of Tel Aviv, a 45-year-old man was found lying in the street, suffering from hypothermia. MDA evacuated the moderately-injured man to Assaf Harofeh Medical Center

in Rishon Lezion.

 

Ten people, among them nine children, were swept away in a river in southern Israel. After some time, rescue teams were able to reach them and they were rescued. They sustained light injuries and were evacuated to Soroka University Medical Center in Beersheba.
